The One Liners
These pieces are an exploration of the blind contour drawing technique, where the focus is on observing the subject rather than the paper. By drawing without looking, meaning I am not looking at my paper when I draw this, only the subject; I embraced the unpredictability and imperfection that comes with trusting the process. Using a loose, minimal line style, I aimed to create an expressive face that feels raw and unfiltered. The exaggerated, mismatched features—crooked teeth, wandering eyes, and expressive brows—reflect the spontaneity of this approach and highlight the beauty of imperfection. This work celebrates the act of seeing and translating, rather than striving for perfection, encouraging viewers to appreciate the honesty and raw energy of the line.
